High-Performance Hermetic Optical Fiber for Downhole Applications

Optical fibers have been used in the petroleum industry for many years; their applications range from real-time temperature and pressure measurements, data transmission, to imaging applications.

In this paper, we demonstrate significantly improved reliability of recently developed hermetic, high operating temperature optical fiber.
